Creating the Players.

I created players to take part in a Street Fighter style video which would feature Umbro models pixelated in an 8 bit style. I was inspired to do so after watching a video on groundbreaking video gaming. Within the beginning of Umbro's 1960 introductory era, a new age of computer games had begun to appear on shelves.

This inspired me to create characters which pay homage to pixelated games yet have a modern quality and feel. I began by saving original shots of Umbro Models. I then changed they Image size to 120px height and linked the width to stay scale. Following this, I changed the colour mode to Indexed Colour and reduced the amount of Colours to multiples of 8 dependent on the quality I wanted for each character (8-64 standard visible colours). This gave me the pixelated quality seen below. After this I cropped the head and limbs of each character and rotated and moved them, so I could align them like a stop-motion in Premiere. Old skool video games often were only comprised of few images which changed according to which button was pressed.
